What are vaccines?

  • Vaccines are the most effective way to prevent many infectious diseases and to save lives
  • Vaccines teach your immune system how to create antibodies that protect you from diseases in the future because the body remembers how to combat these germs if they encounter them again
  • Once your immune system knows how to fight a disease, it can often give you lifelong protection.
  • It’s much safer for your immune system to learn this through vaccination than by catching the diseases and treating them.
