What we do in the UK
Who we are
MUSE CIO was established to promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people from becoming socially excluded, relieving the needs of those people who are socially excluded and assisting them to integrate into society. This includes people living with dementia and their families, people who are isolated through lack of mobility and access and people who are resettling in Britain after fleeing their homes.
Since 2022
Muse has maintained a series of Community Hubs, specifically to support people settling in the Salisbury area, who do not have fluent English and who might be struggling with the UK system, with housing and family budgets but who are trying to find employment and stability for themselves and their families.
We offer a warm welcome to these individuals and groups, providing English tuition, English conversation, exercise and dance, craft, sewing, cooking and gardening sessions, a creche and signposting with support, to utilise other services in their locality.
We currently run four Community Hubs, in Amesbury, Larkhill, Durrington and Bemerton. For more information contact the team below.
We also run regular art, music and drama workshops in schools, community spaces and in outdoor venues.
We always do this in collaboration with other local grassroots organisations, with schools, museums, colleges and with county and city councils.

Salisbury Stands with Ukraine
It is now three years since Russia invaded Ukraine and MUSE has supported the Ukrainian Community in Salisbury since the start. The Ukrainian community continues to enrich our city, and the majority of its members are employed locally. Together we have organised market stalls with Ukrainian food, music and crafts; observed each anniversary of the conflict; celebrated Independence Day and participated in the Chalke History Festival. Please visit the gallery page to enjoy photographs and clips of all of these colourful activities and events.
Dementia Services
Muse collaborates with local dementia services to provide additional activities and regular get-togethers for people experiencing cognitive impairment. Since 2021, we have held regular groups and activities in Salisbury and in nearby Downton.
Downton Downtime
We meet on Tuesday mornings during term time, at Downton Baptist Church, South Lane, Downton,SP5 3NA. Everyone is welcome for a cuppa, cake and a chat, followed by activity sessions. These alternate between creative music making sessions with Frankie Simpkins and the team, seated dance and movement with Debbie and arts and crafts sessions with visiting community artists and photographers. We also host performances which are open to the wider community.
These sessions are hosted by Beyond Dementia in collaboration with Sounds Better CIC and Muse CIO.
